Water and TV License

Water Bills
This is another easy one to arrange, as there will only be one supplier in the area you are living.  If you don’t know who it is, click on this link (www.water.org.uk/customers/find-your-supplier) and put in your new homes postcode, it will tell you who your supplier is, and a link to their website where you can set up your account.
Here are some tips on how you can reduce your water usage:

Spend less time in the shower
Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
Reuse water
Get a water butt to collect rainwater
Fill the kettle less
Use full loads for your washing machine and dishwasher
Maintain your appliances
Use the shower instead of the bath
Use water saving devices

TV License
The annual cost of a TV license for a household is £159, but you can request a partial refund for the months you are not at university. Rules around paying a TV licence can be complicated. But you don’t need to pay if:
you don’t watch any live TV, and
you don’t watch anything on the BBC iPlayer (or use it to download).

It’s important to note that watching TV on a device powered by its own batteries, such as a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone, is permitted without a TV licence. However, if the device is plugged into the mains, it is considered to be using live TV and requires a licence.

Failure to have a TV licence when required can result in a hefty fine of up to £1,000 plus legal fees and compensation.
